VIDEO SCREENING: MAYDAY! MAYDAY! MAYDAY!
Open Call Deadline: Wednesday, February 22
This spring, the Skowhegan Alliance will present Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!, a video program of work made by Skowhegan alumni. The screening will take place in May at Skowhegan's New York program space.
Mayday, from French m'aider, translated as help me: a distress signal
May Day, a Spring festivity with Pagan origins (such as Beltane, Flora, and Walpurgisnacht): rites of change and renewal
May Day, or International Worker's Day: celebration of workers' and labor rights
We are currently requesting submissions of video works that embody ideas suggested through Mayday and/or May Day. Our hope is that various interpretations of the term will allow for a surprising and diverse collection of works.
- You may submit links for up to two videos, but the combined duration cannot exceed ten minutes.
- Videos for review must be hosted online (i.e. on your website, Vimeo, or YouTube).
- If chosen, what is submitted is what will be screened.
- Participants included in the previous screening, Divisions, are ineligible.
To apply, please fill out the online application form on this page.
The deadline is February 13, 2017.
We look forward to viewing your submissions!
