The Drawing Center’s Lisa Sigal, Open Sessions Curator, has a new project happening in New Orleans this weekend. Home Court Crawl, which is part of the larger Prospect.3: Notes for Now, is a “porch crawl/roving performance” of BURNING, a play by Suzan-Lori Parks. Check out the performance on Saturday, December 13, starting at 2pm CT.
Home Court Crawl will feature Junebug Productions, actors Freddie Hollywood and Kesha McKey, and organizer Sue Press, along with community members to “perform architecture” as a call-and-response with blighted homes, riffing on the absurd state of hollow structures and energizing the community with folly, rage, spirit, and joy. The performance will be carried through the streets by a second line with music and food.
Home Court Crawl is the first phase of Blights Out, an artist- and community-led initiative for blight remediation and community-owned development produced with Imani Jacqueline Brown and Carl Joe Williams.
