Despite the large glass entryway of envoy enterprises that offers glimpses of the hustle and bustle of the Lower East Side, it’s all too easy, when walking through the gallery, to feel as if one is not in this city—or even in this time. The current exhibition, “Hedonic Reversal,” by Chilean artist and filmmaker Rodrigo Valenzuela, is comprised of five large prints and an accompanying video that nimbly tow a line between fiction and reality, placing the viewer in a hazy, make-believe future while simultaneously revealing hard truths about the present.
