#artonpaper kicks off Thursday at Pier 36 and we can’t wait to see all the amazing paper-based artwork that will be on view through Sunday, March 8. In addition to 55 galleries exhibiting artists—like Swoon—who look to paper as a major influence, we’re looking forward to the several projects and installations that will also be at the fair.
Brooklyn-based artist, Mia Pearlman creates works on paper that deal with the natural world and uncertainty. Her large scale installation ”Maelstrom (2008)“ will greet you as you enter the fair. Michael Scoggins’ installation Dogfight explores the state of art, war, ego and technology in a seemingly childlike yet breathtaking installation that will be located at the West Lounge. Make your way to the East Lounge and you’ll find FOE, Wayne White’s installation of large scale puppets which historically depict a confederate raid that took place in York.
Get a first look at these works at the Opening Night Celebration — all proceeds will support #BKMEducation programming (get your tickets here)! For those hoping to make a weekend out of it, all Art on Paper ticket-holders receive complimentary admission to the Museum through the duration of the fair!
