Adjunct Photography Position

Tricia McLaughlin (‘92, computer tech '99-'01) invites interested Skowhegan alumni to apply for the job below: 

SUNY Old Westbury is looking to fill an adjunct Photography position for the coming fall semester. An MFA and teaching experience preferred.  The spot is for teaching Intro to Photography and Basic Design. These courses meet on tuesday and thursday. Together the time slot runs from 9:40am to 12:50pm. There is a ten minute break between these 2 classes.

SUNY Old Westbury is located 22 miles from Manhattan. It is accessible by train and bus as well as by car.

Course descriptions:

VA2400    Intro to Photography     Tuesday/Thursday     9:40 am-11:10 pm
Beginning course for art majors and non-art majors in photography. Emphasis is on photography as a system of visual and cultural representation. The history of photography and technical data are interspersed with shooting assignments and criticism. Technical instruction in digital photography is covered and students are expected to deliver printed photos of each assignment.

VA2020     Basic Design     Tuesday/Thursday     11:20 pm-12:50 pm    
The studio course deals with the development of visual structures and the relationship among two, three, and four (time) dimensions. Through structured projects, beginning with point and visual rhythm, the course will explore line, plane, and color. Students will learn the fundamental principals to organizing these multi-dimensions as they relate to graphics, interior design, photography, etc. and how to make informed intelligent visual decisions. The relationship between the traditional crafts, such as painting, sculpture, and the new electronic media arts will be discussed and studied.
